GrayMill's focus is on education and the equitable treatment of all students. GrayMill is an independent educational consulting agency, designed to provide professional development services, conference speakers and technical assistance.
The primary focus of the agency is the
national distribution of highly successful educational equity research-based programs for teachers, parents and administrators.
The GESA programs satisfy two out of the four major areas of reform that states must meet to receive ARRA funding, which is being released through the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund.
1) Improving teacher effectiveness
2) Improving achievement in low-performing schools
In order to receive funds, states will have to both sign assurances and submit plans that show metrics are being met in order to get the money. See the letter explaining the guidelines at: http://www.ed.gov/programs/statestabilization/
2009-394-cover.pdf.
The programs are:
•Generating Expectations for Student Achievement (GESA for Teachers, K-12)
•Student Achievement Grounded in Equity
(SAGE, is GESA for Higher Education)
•GESA for Parents
•GESA for Administrators
GESA Programs show teachers:
•How expectations are shaped.
•What high expectations look like.
•Specific strategies teachers' can use to promote high expectations.
